CloseOpera is a right in your face pop-up/ pocket opera company based in Ghent at Huset, Hoogstraat 49, Ghent. Opera for everybody! Booking agency KOORTZZ.

Jolien participated in several CloseOpera productions. She toured over theaters in Fllanders in a couple of majour shows called ‘A diva Night! (2015-2017), ‘Fright Night’ (2015-2017) and ‘Oh la la! Opera Burlesque!’ (2016-2017. Besides that she participated in many shows in Huset: ‘Drama Queens’ (2015), ‘Liederavond’ (2015), ‘Crossing borders’ (2015), ‘Wagner Night’ (2015), ‘Liederavond’ (2016), ‘Strauss Night’ (2016), “The Orient express’ (2016), ‘ Can you Händel it ‘ (2016) ‘Mozartiana’ (2017), Jolien’s favourites (2017), ‘Mare nostrum’ (2017)), ‘Room 20’ (2019), ‘Die Zauberflöte’ (2019) and ‘Belcantissimo’ (2019).

The voice

In November 2018 Jolien Recorded “The Voice”, together with Koriolis conducted by Joris Derder. The music was composed by Stefaan Van Heertum.

Jelle Vastershaeghe and Jolien De Gendt perform on a regular basis.
They look for purism in all vocal styles, but aren’t scared to perform a disco-style Mozart aria or Belcanto-style Popsong.

THE LOCKDOWNSESSIONS

During the 2020 covid19 lockdown, Jolien was challenged by Brussels Philharmonic to learn a new instrument.
Learning how to play the French Horn was more challenging than expected.

Quasi amoroso

Philippe Wesemael was Jolien’s voice teacher from 1998 to 2004,
he composed a series of romantic melodies.

401dutchoperas

René Seghers is writing a book about Dutch and Flemish opera’s.
Since 2016, Jolien is taking part in bringing long lost scores to life again.
